Video/Photography storage

My husband has little blue plastic boxes filled with photo transparencies (slides) and hundreds (it seems, anyway) of Hi 8 videotapes, etc. that are scattered here, there and yon.

Does anybody have any clever or even just utilitarian suggestions for storage? I'm assuming there are use-specific items for sale (I need to start googling that) but I also thought there might be some not so obvious methods, as well.
