Due Dates on Tasks

Does anyone manage to effectively use due dates on tasks? I keep feeling the urge to assign them, even a range of dates. Pocket Informant uses those effectively, and will show any tasks active for a day on the calendar view. I know David Allen says this is forbidden in GTD, but I'm sure it works for someone.

Exactly. I've considered ranges in which certain tasks are active, while all the non-time sensitive tasks have no due date. Some tasks do have a set of dates in which they must be done, and that way they appear on the agenda view in a program like Pocket Informant.
