Hacer: where does it come from?

After visiting the board page and seeing it for the seventeenth time,
I just have to ask : "what does hacer mean? where does it come from?
Is it a made up word".

Like a door that is almost shut but not quite, or a shirt tail that is almost
tucked in but not quite, this bugs me and is occupying me psychic ram :-).

Cranking

Merlin used to crank. He’s not cranking any more.

Scared Shitless

Merlin’s scared. You’re scared. Everybody is scared.

This is the video of Merlin’s keynote at Webstock 2011. The one where he cried. You should watch it. »
