Levenger Pocket Briefcase: Ballistic Nylon! For USD$28!

I had made a previous attempt at a hipsterpda using a Moleskine card folio mini.

I like it. Its nice. But as people have pointed out, it can be a bit bulky when it comes time to carry it.

I have been browsing the Levenger website now and then and I know people have raved about the Pocket Briefcase, but I keep a wallet already (The Jimi) and don't want a big wallet. I want a tiny wallet and a way to keep my hipster in line.

Plus, that pocket briefcase was hard to justify sight-unseen.

So I was running an errand today (getting some mobile phones flashed to current firmware at iUnlock in the Prudential Center because I'm a total nerd) and walking through the halls of commerce I saw an honest-to-God Levenger store.

What luck!

So I went in and checked it out. Sure enough, those pocket briefcases are awesome. But what I can't find on their website, and was a perfect fit for me in every way was the Pocket Briefcase in *ballistic* form. They only had black, I wish they made it in blue or green.

But it cost only USD$28 compared to 38+ and had some of levenger's cards included as a "free trial". I love the feel of it. It fits *much* better in my front pocket than the moleskine does, and it feels great to write on thanks to the nice clamp-like system to hold a 3x5 in place while you write on it, which also has a stiffer surface the card rests on letting you write with impunity.

I'll be snapping some pictures and flickr'ing them as soon as possible but I quickly moved my NA cards and project cards over the Levenger and so far I am delighted. I'm out of AA batteries at the moment and my camera needs them or I can't use the portrait grip. Batteries are on my @errands card so I'll soon have some photos to share.

I really am surprised I can't find the ballistic nylon flavor of my pocket briefcase on the Levenger site. Had I known they had one, I probably would have bought one.

Action shots will be forthcoming, of course, so stay tuned.

Store Locator!

I immediately went there after posting. I was hoping for a bit more of a store selection, but I'm guessing that is around the corner.

I really like their products so far. I am really glad I ran into their store today.

Though I'm what some would call 'fussy' or 'particular' or, just flat-out snobby and snotty.

What can I say? :)

Somehow, this doesn't surprise me one bit. :)

But yes, they do have stores, I was surprised too. I figured they had to have something out there but had never encountered them. But they have one in Chicago, one in Boston and a couple others apparently.

The Boston store at Prudential isn't huge, but its about the size of say your average clothing store in a shopping mall. So there were plenty of products to ooh and ahh over.

And they offered to send me catalogs. I usually don't feel compelled to get put on a mailing list, but when they said "Would you like to receive our catalog?" the only thing I could say was, "Hells yes," and the anticipation of Levenger pornography delivered to my door has been driving me crazy ever since.

Oh, the Levenger catalog is a serious bad influence. Boston is certainly doable for a day trip from here, but I have a quasi-business trip to Chicago in June. Hmmm....
