”What’s 43 Folders?”
43Folders.com is Merlin Mann’s website about finding the time and attention to do your best creative work.

Application that creates shortcuts to folders

I'm looking for an app (or a built-in Windows XP shortcut) that allows me to quickly save to or open favorite folders within different applications. I've seen several apps that let you quickly open favorite folders (e.g. Filing Cabinet) but I'm not sure whether these also give you shortcuts to SAVE to a particular folder.

If you know of anything, please post it. I'm spending a lot of time navigating with my mouse!

Thanks!

Tweak UI

TweakUIXP (sorry you'll have to Google it) let's you customize the folders in the places bar (that vertical bar in standard Windows dialogues - Recent, My Docs, My Computer, Desktop, etc). You are limited by bar real estate, but it may be a small solution .... I am trying to find an app I saw once that adds an icon to those dialogues to allow any favorite folder, but I can not find it yet.

Check out TweakUI if you just need a handful of folders

This is an essay about family, priorities, and Shakey’s Pizza, and it’s probably the best thing he’s written. »
