Landscaping/Architectural Software

One of my projects is totally changing the landscape of our house, since our shady tree is dying and we're soon going to lose all of our plants that love deep shade and end up in full sun.

Windoze has programs where you can take a picture of your house, then try different types of landscape plants, etc. around it, even seeing how it will all look after a few years when things have grown. But I haven't found anything like that for the Mac.

Windoze even had a program once that did minor architectural changes to your home, as well. Ex: You could change the types of windows and see how it would look.

Does anything like this exist for the Mac?

I know it's an up hill battle to get folks to pay for pro advice when it comes to working on their homes, but if you look around you, you can see pretty easily which homes are designed (and built) by good pros, and which are clearly not. Not that there aren't some very good amateur mechanics as well; though rare, even those guys likely have some help from their pro buddies.

Sure, but why not let people draft and compose proposed changes to give their contractors an idea of what they're looking for?

I think a lot of people would rather do the design or blueprint what they're looking for and then hand that off as a recommendation/suggestion for their professional contractor.

My father-in-law is a handyman. He does everything from build houses to putting on a rooftop -- I think he'd love going to visit a client that had an idea for a project and actually had that idea drafted out in "his language".

Cranking

Merlin used to crank. He’s not cranking any more.

This is an essay about family, priorities, and Shakey’s Pizza, and it’s probably the best thing he’s written. »
