Linux GTD roll call

Hi everyone,

Anyone else using Linux as their day-to-day OS? I switched my work laptop over completely a while ago, though I still run Windows under a VMWare VM for the sake of accessing Lotus Notes and a few other work requried Windows apps.

What office pr0n tools have folks used under Linux? I've played around with VIMOutliner and GnomeTasks, along with several stand alone wikis. My team is using the NotesWiki template from OpenNTF for shared information and that's worked out fantastically.

Enine, what can Kontact do...

Enine, what can Kontact do that Outlook can't? I'm considering switching over to SuSE Linux 10 on my laptop and I've been looking at Kontact for use as a PIM, but of course it's not easy to find a lot of info about Kontact or tips for it's use on the web yet. I'm also looking at synce in the hopes that a switch to Linux won't make my Pocket PC useless as an extension of my desktop PIM.

Sub todo's for one thing. I use this for all my project management.
Birthdays and Aniversaries can be added to the calendar automatically from the address book. I actually helped with this one a little bit.
Todo's are shown on the caneldar as well, no more having to flip back and forth between the calendar and todo just to see everything.
No .pst. no 2G limit, no running scanpst to fix it.
Integration of mail and news, no more crappy outlook express.
Linking of files to calendar/task entries. I had to do this myself by adding another tab to the default form in Outlook.
The only thing I miss is being able to assign categories to files on the file system but OL2003 did away with the file system plug in anyway so not that point in outlooks favor is no more. I'm learning to use the metadata anyway which is more portable.
Korganizer became the killer app which helped me make the switch to linux.

Cranking

Merlin used to crank. He’s not cranking any more.

This is an essay about family, priorities, and Shakey’s Pizza, and it’s probably the best thing he’s written. »
