Power of writing it down

Not sure this is the correct board for this, but I can't think of where else to put it.

I had a very difficult phone call to make tonight. While at work today, I wrote out a NA list (@Home - tonight). The phone call was at the top. I know I wouldn't have made it without writing it down. Just writing it was difficult enough. But that was the 'commitment to myself' I needed.

I'm so glad I did phone tonight. The friend I called has recently been diagnosed with cancer. I've not spoken to her since the news broke. And she starts chemo tomorrow. Best possible time, really.

Needed to tell someone.

Thanks

Steve

Two of my Projects involve things exactly like this.

"Be a Better Brother," and "Be a Better Emory".

They're full of things I really find difficult but need to do, and will often (though not often enough) promote to NAs.

Good job on your call, Steve.

Good call on your part too. I told a friend that I was using GTD to remember to send my mother a card and present for her birthday (crap! that's coming up soon now that I think about it!) and he was aghast. But my mother was so pleased and impressed that I remembered and it was a really nice feeling.

It's nice to see people use GTD to be more human, slowly undoing the evils of instrumental reason (I'm taking a critical theory class).

This also reminds me of the importance of life lists. For instance, I really need to get around to making my list of people to check up on from time to time and keep in touch with... Then I need to put it somewhere where I can see it and let it stew to be eaten at just the right moment.

Cranking
