Multi-Function Printer Recommendations

pooks thread about printer recommendations motivated me to ask, and I am not into hijacking another person's perfectly good thread. I have been shopping around for a do-it-all type printer. One that scans, copies and prints, but also does high quality photos on photo paper.

I looked at an HP at Staples the other night that might fit the bill. Before I buy, however, I wanted to get recommendations from my 43F, friends who are much more intellegent in this area than I.

I say stick with HP....

I say stick with HP. If you want to buy a replacement printer every year then cannon or lexmark are adeqaute but they don't seem to last much past a year. Epson may print at a higher resolution but unless you print something every day then you have the clogging problem (which still exists despite several claims as to it being fixed).
My 1995 DeskJet 600 is still printing at an uncle's house so his granddaughter can print pictures she has drawn in mspaint for windows 3.1. My Photosmart 1218 from 2000 is still my living room printer for whever we need, my Deskjet 340 that I got used in 1998 still works fine even after sitting on the couch between my wife and I for two years printing term papers and other things for her college classes before we bought the 1218 in 2000.
Also search for recycling on HP's web site and they will send you prepaid envelopes to send back the used print cartridges for recycling.

This is an essay about family, priorities, and Shakey’s Pizza, and it’s probably the best thing he’s written. »
