I am a University faculty in Quebec since June 2006. I read the GTD book at the same time that I got my new office, so I organised it GTD style. I also used many suggestions that I have found on this forum. I can tell you that nobody from my postdoctoral fellowship years would recognize the office I had then (piles of paper representing project, basically you could not see the desk, email alert chiming every 2 minutes...) if they saw the one I have now. Hopefully I can contribute with my own ideas on implementing GTD in a scientific and teaching setting.
