Portable Tickler File?
Don Judd | Dec 26 2007
I’m looking for a portable tickler file, something I can put 43 folders in or is made to handle 43 folders, and can be portable between my office and home. Anyone got any tips here? 3 Comments

I actually managed to find a nice 3” single pocket folio at Staples which holds 43 folders nicely and is still small enough to be portable. I just wasn’t thinking outside the box enough. The mental picture I created for myself was a large filing cabinet, when in reality, these folders don’t take up that much space. As an IT Manager, I don’t often have things I need to place in my tickler file, most of what I do is on demand, as machines go down, I have to fix them that day. Future reminders do happen, but it’s not like I’ll fill an entire 3” folio to capacity and then some. »

I spend a lot of time on the road, and I have a 7 pocket foolscap wallet I use as a weekly tickler file. As part of my weekly review I file the weeks tickles in that and put it in my briefcase ready for the week ahead. Given that you are working between home and the office do you need to move the whole file every time? Can you not just move a few days worth at a time. »

I also travel a lot, and my entire tickler file is now a Google Calendar that sends email and/or SMS alerts to “tickle” me. I actively try to avoid anything on paper, but if I do have a paper-based something, I carry ONE folder and put the paper in that, with a note in Google Calendar to look at the paper. Marina »
