Text 'clipboard' for Mac

Firstly, I hope I’ve posted this in the right area - apologies if not.

I’m looking for a Mac utility that will allow me to easily store a selection of often used chunks of text (sometimes for us in e-mails, sometimes in documents) that I can quickly find and paste when needed.

Any recommendations?

Many thanks,

Simon

Try TextExpander (or Quicksilver)

You have a number of options on this one, but I’ll highlight two that I like.

TextExpander (previously here) lets you define shortcuts for snippets of text that “explode” when you type a few letters. (Video demoing TE)

Quicksilver (previously here) lets you define items on a “Shelf” that can be pasted into place using the app’s super-fast keyboard commands.

For what you’re describing, I’d give TextExpander a spin.

Thanks...

Hi Merlin,

Thanks for the swift response.

Having initially read your mail I was going to sit down and spend some time with Quicksilver - I’ve been using for some time but as little more than an app launcher. I know it’s a fair more powerful tool so will invest some time.

But…

I thought I’d download TextExpander - and it’s EXACTLY what I needed.

Thanks,

Simon

Try Typinator

I have been using TextExpander for a while but recently I made the move to Typinator (http://www.ergonis.com/products/typinator/).

Try them both and see which one you like best.
