Synchronization between palm - outlook - google calendar

So I'm trying to figure out a low-budget way of essentially getting my palm m130 to carry a calendar and my to do lists. I even have DataViz's Beyond Contacts software. The problem is the BC software doesn't want to talk to my Outlook on my work computer for some reason, and I am not really sure how to narrow down what's going wrong. Just wondering if anyone has any other tips about palm synchronization they might be able to share - right now I need to download google calendar as an ics file and convert it to a vcs file (using a cool website I found online), and then load that in Palm Calendar, which is a little clunky... but it works.

Also, are there free GTD-based to do lists that work better than memo pad - or is memo pad pretty good? I guess it all depends on the system you set up to some extent, but any direction to palm-related resources on 43f would be most appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Synchronization between palm - outlook - google calendar

Not being an Outlook user, I may be missing something, but:

  • When you first install a Palm, doesn't it ask if you want to sync using Palm Desktop, or using Outlook?

  • If I'm correct above, and you can take Palm Desktop out of the picture entirely, would Google Calendar Sync handle the Google-Outlook link, and then you let the regular Palm syncing take care of the rest?
