Wallet suggestions

Can any of you help me with my quest of a good GTD wallet:

It should not be complicated but I have not found anything yet, here are my specs:

1) 2 cash slots (one for cash, one for receipts for my expense account)

2) a few credit card slots

3) Index card holder, or notepad

4) small pen

---------------

Once I have this I will be set ... one of my biggest problems is not writing down things that I need to do when I am on the road and then forgetting them or stressing about forgetting them.

if you can help me I will be eternally grateful

Cheers

I wrote an article earlier...

I wrote an article earlier this year about this topic -- actually about dumping all the cargo in general -- called Zen Pockets. As discussed in that, I went with a clear plastic sleeve from a convention lanyard, although a suitcase tag sleeve would work just as well, with only the basics.

Have you thought of one...

Have you thought of one of those inserts they include in overly complicated women's wallets? I have one I just threw on the Goodwill pile that has:

--a clear slot for DL
--four add'l slots
--two interior slip pockets, either of which could accommodate index cards/cash/receipts

Only question is whether after you shoved all that crap in there, whether you could comfortably clip a pen into the fold.

Then again, I just chucked my freebie checkbook insert onto the Goodwill pile. Black nylon, fairly neutral, gender-wise. Email me off the boards with shipping info and it's yours for the asking.

UPDATE: Just double-checked and there's an additional full-sized pocket on the outside, for a total of 3 index-card/money-sized pockets and 4 credit-card-sized ones. Woo-hoo! Pocket bonanza!

I have my eye on...

I have my eye on this, which I think fits the bill exactly. Not designed as a wallet, but it would work perfectly well as one, and doesn't have extraneous stuff. http://www.levenger.com/PAGETEMPLATES/PRODUCT/Product.asp?Params=Category=11-76|PageID=2269|Level=2-3

For those who don't feel like checking the URL, it's a small, skinny leather case that folds like a book. It has two pockets for 3x5 cards, 2 pockets for business or credit cards, a pocket with a window for your ID, a sleeve for a pen, a pocket for bills and a pocket for receipts. It's $44, which is sort of pricy, although I notice one of the colors is on sale for 20 bucks. I have some of their other leather stuff, and I've been happy with the quality. They also have overpriced 3x5 cards which I have to admit are pretty nice--the card stock is heavy and very smooth. Good for fountain pen geeks like myself, although I personally wouldn't carry an FP in this case.

Safety pin.
A small one. Just hook it in to your wallet or anything else made of some kind of cloth and that you always have with you (I've got one hooked into my Leatherman holster).

It's almost free, and it may at some point save the day. Somehow.

I did a review of...

I did a review of the wallet I love for Make #3. Not quite perfect for your specs, but it is terrific and compact.

Taxi Wallet

Like so many hipster throwbacks these days, the compact taxi wallet arrives with a back story. This unit was the supposed preference of cab drivers in the ?30s, since it?s slim, roomy, and can snap onto your belt. Now, why you?d ever want to wear your wallet on your belt escapes me, but those depression-era taxi guys were probably a pretty colorful bunch.

This cowhide wallet is a very lightweight bi-fold design with rounded edges that includes a snap-open accordion pocket on the front for change or credit cards. A middle pocket behind that can be used to slide in a driver?s license and ATM card (just like in the ?30s!). Another snap opens the inside where two billfold areas allow you to separate currencies or just keep your receipts sequestered from your cash.

I love this wallet because it?s light, durable, and very small, yet oddly expandable when you need it to be. Unlike the massive George Costanza models some folks love (?a filing cabinet under half of your ass?), this little guy encourages you to do more with less. It slips easily into even a front jeans pocket, and the rounded edges make it easy on your pants.

Doesn?t make me want to drive a taxi necessarily, but my ass sure is grateful for the symmetry.

That's interesting. I actually just came from the Levenger site. I was there to order just this wallet, but cancelled the order once I saw the shipping cost.

A friend got me something...

A friend got me something awesome as a holiday gift:

PicoPad!!!

It's a little tiny folder with a tiny pad of post-its and a tiny pen. It easily fits in your wallet so that you'll ALWAYS have something to write on/with (as long as you have your wallet) and won't ever have to worry about unnecessarily relying on your onboard memory.
