Palm T3 vs. Treo 650?
Dr. J | Nov 11 2006
Hello & Pardon the cross post- Hope you guys can please help me! I'm finally "getting it together" and need some advice- I'm going to be using kGTD with iCal to sync to a palm device. I have a Palm T3 that I have been able to get syncign with Missing Sync, but am considering going with a Treo 650 that I just picked up as my "trusted system" as I've found myself in several situations going d@mnit! I forgot my Palm! or "it's in the trunk" Note: I will not be using it for e-mail/Web, just as a phone & PDA. Pros: Devices integrated & has all my info integrated to the phone! Any thoughts on T3 vs. Treo? Any experiences with the Treo pro/con? Help me Obi-Merlin (and like minded folk) - you're my only hope! Best, 6 Comments

The display on the T3...Submitted by emory on November 14, 2006 - 10:29am.
The display on the T3 is better. You know that. The Treo is nice for that all-in-one feeling. Personally I don't like the Treo, but YMMV. You can still use Graffiti on the Treo, AFAIK. You certainly need to whip out the stylus for some UI elements because there is a slight disconnect at times between form elements and radio buttons in the Palm interface that makes it cumbersome at times to pick the right item. Its worth picking up a Treo as a trial. If you don't want to screw with your existing plan you could always give service for a whirl with a different operator, cancel in 2 weeks, and return the Treo, and get it with your existing provider instead if you go that route. »
Carrying two devices-Submitted by Dr. J on November 17, 2006 - 10:31pm.
Well, the screen on the T3 is bigger, but a lower resolution. If I had to say organizer/personal brain/Trusted System- I'd say hands down, T3. I did find myself though on many occasions going "#$!T$^#! It's in the trunk" or being out on a walk with the dog and wanting to capture. . . although a voice memo on the cell phone is a good thing too. . . . . I've been using the Treo for about a week. It is definately a bit of a compromise, but has serious potential. I'm 93-96% happy, but know that down the road I'll regret it possibly when I want to do some serious brainstorming or take lecture notes/etc. The qwerty is just not ergonomic enough for that type of stuff. Plus eBooks/Avantgo. . Ugh. Can anybody read through my indecision? Plus: Neat new gadget. Cutting Edge. Cool. Wireless internet- Don't care. (at least as long as Verizon charges so d@mn much!) It's simply the convenience of having one device to rule them all. Thoughts? »

The T3 is 320 x 480 pixels. The Treo 650+ is 320 x 320. Treo 600 is lower still. »

I had a T3 and gave it to my brother after I went to the Blackberry 8700c. Never looked back. The T3 was great but I did not want to carry 2 gadgets with me (PDA and phone). The Blackberry does everything for me that most of what the T3 did. And it does not crash as the T3 often did. »
Try Graffiti AnywhereSubmitted by solo on November 25, 2006 - 12:13am.
If your problem is the keyboard vs. the itty keyboard, there is a free download called "Graffiti Anywhere". http://www.escande.org/palm/GrfAnywhere/index.html It will let you use the whole screen as a stylus area. I would also recommend getting Boxwave protective "condom" thingies for the screen, esp if you are gonna be scratching it all up. Hope this suggestion is relevant and helpful. »
Bic cool cheap pen/stylus, Note Taker Palm softwareSubmitted by solo on November 25, 2006 - 12:21am.
One more fetishistic item. Bic makes a fat pen/stylus combo the "e.3" which you can get c.$5.00. If you are a Graffiti-meister you will love it. »
