Omnifocus ready for pre-order!

Just got an email about the release of OmniFocus for January 8, 2008. Here’s the email from Ken Case from The Omni Group:

Hi, all!

You wouldn’t know it from the silence on this mailing list, but it’s been a very, very busy six months for OmniFocus: we’ve sent out “sneaky peek” invitations to 16,193 people, read 20,232 email messages sent directly to our support ninjas (at omnifocus@omnigroup.com) and another 8,326 messages posted to the OmniFocus forums (at http://forums.omnigroup.com/forumdisplay.php?f=38), and we’ve published over 500 “sneaky peek” releases of the software.

We could probably go on indefinitely in this state: you continue to give us lots of great ideas for ways in which we could improve the software further, and it’s hard to resist implementing a good idea when we hear it. But it’s time to draw the OmniFocus 1.0 development cycle to a close and give you all a stable version that you can use without having to download a new update each week.

So, I’m pleased to (finally!) announce that we will be shipping OmniFocus 1.0 on January 8, 2008. OmniPlan 1.0 licenses will sell for $79.95 when it ships—but you can pre-order licenses starting today for just $39.95 (saving $40), and can save even more if you already own a copy of OmniOutliner Pro or purchase more than one license.

In related news, a number of you have been asking when we might publish an updated video overview (since after 500 releases the last one was starting to feel just a wee bit out of date!). Ethan has been understandably busy, since he’s been moving himself and his family from Hong Kong to Seattle to join Omni as our head of marketing (welcome, Ethan!)—but now that he’s finally here and getting settled in, he’s recorded an updated video which we’re posting to our updated OmniFocus web site. You’ll find it at www.omnigroup.com/omnifocus.

I just ordered mine, as I’ve been testing the alpha. It is awesome - and the video is now more in-depth than it was upon its first release.

Way to go, Omni!

i'm preordering right now

Note: there is a $10 discount for owners of OmniOutliner Pro, too, so if you’re (like me) currently kGTDing, don’t forget to ask for that discount, too.

Omni focus, and me....

Last week I almost went blitzo, I’m talking borking nuts because my life is in chaos, and there are open “to do” loops everywhere I look. As a desperate move I downloaded the GTD audiobook, (tool #1) I’ve never really had a system, a direction to change my behavior, and physical tools to help me be more proficient.

With that said, I want omni focus (tool #2) to be one of those tools in my GTD system, what I would like though is……..

A map.

The downloadable workflow diagram on the GTD site is very good, but it would be really nice to see how omnifocus can be applied to it.

The file is called

workflow_diagram.pdf

it may even exist here somewhere amongst the 43 folders.

If there was a way to overlay the functions of omnifocus on this diagram it would help me better apply omnifocus to my current system of arbitrary random and spastic production seasoned with a dash of chaos.

Signed

desperate dentist
