Everytime I pick up a new Moleskine, I’m reminded how much I freaking love these things. I got a fresh one the other day at Flax, so why not mention a few new Moleskine hacks?

The first time I saw Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, I thought, “Now that’s a neat little notebook!” I especially liked the elastic strap. I guess it was a Moleskine, though it took me until this recent craze to figure it out. I have yet to get one, though - I already have legal pads and scratch pads and note pads and notebooks - I never carry them partly because they’re too stiff. If I had a little pocket-sized notebook that was leather-bound - or at least not cardboard covered - I could stick it in my back pocket and sit, squat, stand, crouch, etc. and not bend it all up. The only “real” Moleskines I’ve seen are all hardbound - am I browsing at stores with too limited a selection? Are there any with leather/vinyl/flexible, not-paper covers? Also: I’m almost afraid to ask this here, but - what happens if I just get a generic version of a Moleskine? Will it quickly disintegrate, where the genuine would not? Will I merely be shunned by arty types wherever I go? What’s the draw of the Moleskine(TM) moleskine for you? » POSTED IN:
