Like most 43F articles on economical carriage and stowage, the Jimi post attracted a lot of interest. Makes me think it's time for an open thread: What's your favorite minimalist wallet? Jimi? Slimmy? Moneyclip? Coin purse? Goin' commando? Spill in comments (and feel free to link to canonical product pages or price compar-i-nators like Froogle). My own winner for minimalism? Starting before a trip to New York in the late 80s, I started wrapping my driver's license, ATM card, and a bill or two in a couple of my Goody pony tail holders (shut up). I think that was my wallet for at least the next two years -- until I got my first real job and decided to go cowhide again. Still, it remains one of my favorites. 212 Comments

I used to use a PCMCIA card holder (clear plastic). I would put an ID card in the bottom facing out and credit cards on top. You could fold some cash in there too but I would normally just carry that in my pocket. Often I would stick a doubled-back postit to the inside of the lid so I could whip that out to see my shopping list, an important phone number, or whatever I needed. I used my old school wallet as an overflow with all non-everyday cards, etc. That went in my bag that I carry around. This solution drove my girlfriend insane so she bought me a "real wallet" which I like. It is just a standard, leather wallet with tons of pockets and card sleeves. Anyway, try it. You probably have one lying around and they are pretty indestructible. :) » POSTED IN:
