Sorry if people are having trouble with comments — the server was being flaky, but I think I might have fixed it now. Lo siento. »

The Macalope must have left you a coded message! Great scoop Merlin. I was watching the ad delayed on my DVR while you were busy breaking the news. As always the first and last stop on the web each day is 43F. I am theoretically 10 times more productive - I can feel it – literally. »

Great ads. I want. Must buy. 599 is not too much. I would trade my mother for one of these things. Just give me, now. I feel like Cartman waiting for a wii. »

But between 499 and 599 US-Dollar or 371 and 446 Euro, is a little bit too much for the iPhone. Or would you pay it? »

“Merlin-thanks for posting those! I really wasn’t thinking about getting one until I saw them. Even my wife asked when they’ll be available. They appear to be very able to dominate the crappy world of phones. Nothing else comes close. The real question is will this spur any creativity on the part of Nokia, LG, Sony, Motorola? “ »

So the keyboard does look like it will be difficult to use. The buttons look so tiny. I’m sure, with time, it’ll become second nature though. It’s nice to see some of the features in action. I like the integrated maps and search a lot. I’d find that really useful. »

the real cost is in the maintenance and the fact that iPhone 2.0 won’t be far behind. bought a 40 gig Apple TV, now can get 160 gig for 100 bucks more. having yosemite sam moment. might wait a bit but will relent at some point (after Leo, that is). »

Dan makes a good point. I’m holding off until at least one week after Leo Laporte purchases one or is with Scott Bourne when he buys one. »
