Exercise Life Hack?

Hey all!

I'm looking for an effective workout life-hack that's 30-40 minutes 3-4 times a week that includes weightlifting and aerobics.

I don't need to be "ripped" -- just want some basic fitness. I'm looking for the most bang for the time spent. (Exercises that use multiple muscle groups, etc.)

Something between the unrealistic get fit for 5 minutes a day group and people who can spend two hours a day at the gym.

I'm looking for some sedentary computer type who researched this and solved this problem.

Anybody out there done this? Want to share your workout?

Thanks!

In the past, I was...

In the past, I was never able to stick with an exercise program for too long. I would try to run and lift weights, or do yoga plus running. Now I've stripped down my structured exercise to weightlifting 3 times a week, at home. I think it's best to chose one form of structured exercise and stick with it.

For me, weightlifting at home is best. I can't make excuses about not wanting to go out (to a gym or class), and I can't make excuses about the weather (for running). For $150 or so you can get an adjustable incline/decline bench, and a starter set of weights with dumbell and barbell bars.

Get a subscription to Men's Health, and check out some of their books for workout ideas. I think the Mens Health Complete Home Workout Bible is the best book for the beginner with basic home equipment.

I figure I can get enough cardio exercise by walking instead of taking the bus to work, taking lunchtime walks, and doing outdoor activities on the weekends.
