Labelers

...or not labelers? Sheeplike, I bought a Brother P-Touch labeler because The David said I had to. :) I've used it on occasion, but for the life of me, I don't understand how it's better at labeling file folders than a seven-cent (in bulk) ballpoint pen. What am I missing?

I googled Neat Handwriting and...

I googled Neat Handwriting and found this article by a teacher, telling how she got her students to work on their handwriting:

Some tips here:

http://www.sparkisland.com/public/articles/howtohandwriting/parent.html

Discussion of cursive, including the european style and a drafting teacher's description of his script (commercial gothic single-stroke style), etc:

http://www.ajc.com/blogs/content/shared-blogs/ajc/education/entries/2005/10/12/_cursive.html

Somewhere I saw a mention of denalian (all letters have connectors so they can be joined, I think) but don't remember ever being taught anything like this.

Anyone know anything about the European style?

And the single-stroke style sounds efficient--where to find info about it?

Cranking

Merlin used to crank. He’s not cranking any more.

This is an essay about family, priorities, and Shakey’s Pizza, and it’s probably the best thing he’s written. »

Scared Shitless

This is the video of Merlin’s keynote at Webstock 2011. The one where he cried. You should watch it. »
