To be honest, I can't figure out what those blog comments mean about European-style cursive not being a true cursive -- I wish they'd pointed to some sort of examples, or even gone into any detail at all about what they consider to be the real thing. That said, there are definitely regional styles to handwriting -- I can always tell continental European from American writing, not just by distinctive letterforms, but by the angle and rhythm of the writing as a whole. Chinese natives writing in English also have a very typical style (and gorgeous numerals).
