Labelers

...or not labelers? Sheeplike, I bought a Brother P-Touch labeler because The David said I had to. :) I've used it on occasion, but for the life of me, I don't understand how it's better at labeling file folders than a seven-cent (in bulk) ballpoint pen. What am I missing?

Yes, the Learning Curve font...

Yes, the Learning Curve font takes me right back to the third grade -- I remember really hating the "Q" in the shape of a big loopy "2", and in fact I don't know anyone who uses it in real life, even people with what I think of as very traditional American penmanship. I learned to write cursive first (and, in an attempt to be even vaguely on-topic, it really is much more efficient for me), and even so that school cursive felt just as strange to me as learning to print.

This is interesting stuff -- I found myself much more absorbed in my googling on the subject than I expected to be, and there's a lot of emotion around it even if we aren't going to hell for the direction we write.

Cranking

Merlin used to crank. He’s not cranking any more.

This is an essay about family, priorities, and Shakey’s Pizza, and it’s probably the best thing he’s written. »

Scared Shitless

Merlin’s scared. You’re scared. Everybody is scared.

This is the video of Merlin’s keynote at Webstock 2011. The one where he cried. You should watch it. »
