”What’s 43 Folders?”
43Folders.com is Merlin Mann’s website about finding the time and attention to do your best creative work.

Print clipboard from Excel Menu.

Sometimes I just want to print what I am looking at on my monitor. Maybe a recipe, a sales ad to take to the store, documentation for a current project, etc. Ideally the Print Screen key would really print off what I am looking at. But nope.

Here is my next best thing:
1) copy something to the clipboard (using Print Screen, Alt+Print Screen, screen capture software)
2) click custom menu item PrintMe on my Excel menu bar
3) behold your printed page.

I use Excel a lot so it is always running on my pc.
The PrintMe menu item activates a small macro. The macro opens a blank workbook named PrintThis, pastes the contents of clipboard, formats the sheet to landscape and fit to 1 page, prints to your printer, then closes itself, ready for the next time. All this is transparent to the user so it feels like all you do is click the PintMe Menu and its done.

I would like to know how others handle this task, is there an easier way?

Here's an option. I can't...

Here's an option. I can't vouch for it, as I haven't installed it yet, but it may do the trick.

Cranking

Merlin used to crank. He’s not cranking any more.

This is an essay about family, priorities, and Shakey’s Pizza, and it’s probably the best thing he’s written. »
