I've wanted one of these super hutches for years

http://www.ultoffice.com/catalog/1974

Does anyone have one? If so, or if not, what do you think of them?

I keep thinking they would keep everything at my fingertips--while also getting things off the desk surface. Stapler, tape, pencil cup, timer, just about everything I clutter up my desk with.

On the other hand it might just mean more surfaces that would get dusty and need cleaning off and things would get put in all those cubbyholes and I'd never think about them again and they'd just put down roots in those dark little holes.

Just wondering if anyone has one of these and if they're worth the steep price.

Thanks
Glenda

I think I'd have to...

I think I'd have to spend a lot of time considering what I'd put in the various slots, hoping to get a configuration that really worked for me. For example, it looks like there are compartments that would act as built-in inbaskets. What else would I put in the cubbies? Not sure.

For starters, you could use one for blank file folders, another for blank paper, and another for index cards. Lots of geeky things to do here. The "magazine" baskets would be useful for project support material and/or read&review stuff. Catalogs and such.

All that being said, even I can't decide what to do with all the cubbies in some of the larger ones, but I'm sure if you had a job where you used certain forms a lot, then it could be useful to have them handy. So, for me, it would be nice to have the low profile one (I have to get some desk clearance. It seems silly to get one that is going to sit on the desk.) but I could see a larger one being useful, i.e. for Innotech employees filling out TPS reports with cover sheets. /me's $.02
