Introduction

(because all the funny introduction titles have been used to death).

Hi there, my name is Akchizar. Some of you may remember me from early on one the 43f wiki. If you do, you have a very good memory.

Anyway, I recently started looking at various GTD-type methods for organising my life. I've just started my second year of University (first lectures today), and over the holidays I decided to use a combination of my relatively-new ruby knowledge (before finals last year I got a massive burst of nervous energy for a couple of weeks and managed to learn ruby. Yes, rather than study, I learnt a programming language. Shut up.)...where was I? Oh yes, using a combination of my relatively-new ruby knowledge and GeekTool to make a command-line to-do application that displays constantly on my desktop. Seeing it in action, seeing how it worked so brilliantly, inspired me to start looking at other GTD stuff.

I'm now attempting to use (successfully, I feel) DragThing, puts lots of stuff in easy reach. Also on my list of trial techniques is the HPDA, seeing as I saw a block of index cards when I was shopping for books for University and bought them on impulse, due to a combination of "these might be useful" and "oooh, little bits of cardboard". It's currently sitting next to me on my desk, challenging me to find something to put on it.

Cranking

Merlin used to crank. He’s not cranking any more.

This is an essay about family, priorities, and Shakey’s Pizza, and it’s probably the best thing he’s written. »

Scared Shitless

Merlin’s scared. You’re scared. Everybody is scared.

This is the video of Merlin’s keynote at Webstock 2011. The one where he cried. You should watch it. »
