On-the-fly TextExpander external snippets (or alternative)

So I'm grooving along using my Textpander (old skool, baby) and thinking about doing even more with it. I mean, it is handy as it is, but I really hate going into the preference pane and walking through the mouse-heavy interface to add a new snippet. Sometimes, I realize that I'm going to type the word "existentialism" a bunch for the next few pages, and I want a quick-and-dirty, on-the-fly snippet added.

As far as I can tell, no can do.

I've looked at the external snippet files floating around the tubes, and they're all plain text (good) structured XML (no good). And so I post my question to the present geniuses: is there a way to use quicksilver to add a new snippet to TextExpander (for which I'd happily pay) or, should that fail, to TypeIt4Me or whatever other competitors are out there?

There might be a simple answer, but I can't find it on the Google, and so please take pity and answer before you mock.

On-the-fly creation of clippings (snippets) in TypeIt4Me

In TypeIt4Me, you can:

  • select the word or phrase you wish to turn into a clipping (snippet)

  • press a hotkey of your choice and a dialog pops up allowing you to:
  • edit the abbreviation for the new clipping
  • click OK or press Enter to confirm
  • check it out. I'll soon offer a very low price "sidegrade" path to TypeIt4Me for registered users of TextExpander, Typinator, etc.

    Hope this helps,
