I wonder if there is software that is very simple, but useful in helping use the GTD methodology.

Simple, Reliable Workflow on a Mac

Ready-Set-Do! is a file-system approach to getting things done on the mac. Check out the Quickstart guide. A very nice overview of the core GTD habits. It even helps you earn "belt levels" as you get better at mastering the habits.
