hPDA
You should blame DIYplanner.com for Levenger’s appropriation. That community embrassed your idea with such passion, I’m guessing that Levenger just saw the opportunity to make a buck and please a market. This said, don’t they call it the CircaPDA (cPDA)? Maybe they think they changed the name enough. Anyhoo, I still call mine a hPDA and than the FSM for Merlin Mann every day.
It’s not a huge deal, but
It’s not a huge deal, but in that link, yeah that’s in the product name.
I’m not losing sleep over it by any stretch — I’d just expect more from a cool company (who clearly gets that it’s enough of a web [aka “linky”] meme to include that coinage in the name).
Linky broken
The link is automatically redirected to the Levenger home page. I can’t see what you mean, darn’it.
FInding the un-hip reference
If you search for “hipster” on Levenger’s homepage, you’ll find this product.
Indeed
I had not seen that particular reference.
That Staples "hPDA"
They don’t carry that Staples-branded one at my local store, but for some time they’ve been selling the “Buxton Note Jotter” which is basically the same thing at the same price. I’ve had mine for quite a while and love it; the only problem is that they always seem to be sold out of the black one so I’m rockin’ the brown…
Oh, and by the way, I use unruled blue index cards from a local bulk-order place. Those fancy ruled ones look a bit too restrictive to me!
Almost like being on the cover of Rolling Stone
It’s ironic that you’ve chosen to publicise a link I sent you via del.icio.us. I’ve been stalking you for months. As well as sharing links via del.icio.us, I used to be one of the elite few (12,569 at latest count and increasing by 1 or 2K a week) who follow you via Twitter.
Another friend who follows you started tweeting to me in revered tones (is that possible?) and said I’d made it to 43Folders.
The irony was this: I thought you might have heard through the grapevine that one of my latest tweets was regarding how I’d stopped following you on twitter. I’d felt it was keeping me from GTD.
I’m glad it was the hosts widget suggestion. Feel free to suggest good stuff to me via del.icio.us. Don’t be shy. Woz bless you.
AirMail did the manila sleeve first.
Airmail did the manilla case first, days after the keynote. Though it looks like they’re temporarily sold out at the moment though. I got to handle one a couple of weeks ago, and it’s a quality product.
I’m sure that the Timbuk2 case is going to be solid, but the people behind AirMail are so completely worth supporting.
Drudge thieving?
Matt Drudge is currently pulling almost 600M hits/month on his home page. It seems unlikely that Yahoo! wouldn’t notice billions of image downloads being used by his webpage.
Isn’t it more likely that he has a contract with Yahoo! and that contract gives him permission to hotlink to their images?
Website envy?
If these guys think Drudge Report is cheating they should say why. Do they really know something or are they just blowing purple smoke? Play nice merlin.
Steve Sleeve
Just picked up the Timbuk2 ‘Steve Sleeve’ at Tekserve in NYC.
Seems like they are the sole retailer stocking this (the Timbuk2 website still gives a shipping date of July). Very much a sleeve (no padding/protection), snug fit - priced a little steep at $49 - but has a “must touch”/”must have” quality (gets me every time…). Sold packaged in an ‘interdepartmental envelope’ - which they encourage you to use/re-use (as with the website - the sleeve is marketed as a ‘green’ product).
