MBW 59 Pick by Merlin: 50mm vs. 35mm lens?

Hi forum!

At the MacBreak Weekly 59 Podcast, Merlin recommended a Canon 50mm f/1.4 lens as pick of the week. He said he liked it not only because it is a very fast lens, but also because it resembles the "zoom factor" of the human view.

Now this might be true for an analog SLR, but for most reasonably priced DSLRs you have to multiply the zoom factor by 1.6, so you end up with a "de facto" 80mm lens.
