My kGTD setup

Related to today's earlier post, a number of people have written over the past few weeks with curiosity about kGTD ("Is it worth buying OmniOutliner Pro?" "Is it worth buying a Mac?" "Will I be able to vanquish all foes?"). While I'm not prepared to do a major sales presentation, I am happy to oblige the folks who wanted to see how I've set mine up. Also gives you a little window into my current contexts (as well as my atrocious personal habits).

So I watched the video...

So I watched the video etc and I have a couple of thoughts: 1) On OS X it seems like a hacked together version of Lifebalance. Lifebalance is ugly to be sure, and seems to have more less stopped moving as far as development goes, but aside from eye candy it is a more seemless solution. In particular you don't have to keep hitting sync. 2) Ecco on the pc can do this (and I set it up to do this when I was on the pc) completely seemlessly- no sync buttons etc. What Ethan is trying to do is emulate Eccos folders capability through applescript. Why omni outliner hasn't added folders or better clones yet is beyond me. 3) On the mac TAO should be able to do this as it has clones. However its pretty idosyncratic, and I'm not sure it would be visually as appealing 4)The other option would be LEO - crossplatform- it also has clones.

Cranking

Merlin used to crank. He’s not cranking any more.

This is an essay about family, priorities, and Shakey’s Pizza, and it’s probably the best thing he’s written. »

Scared Shitless

Merlin’s scared. You’re scared. Everybody is scared.

This is the video of Merlin’s keynote at Webstock 2011. The one where he cried. You should watch it. »
