Open Thread: the iPhone, Apple TV, Steve's other announcements?

Apple - QuickTime - Macworld 2007 Keynote

Apple - iPhone

Wow. Everyone here in the MacBreak war room is still perspiring as we let it all sink in. OS X. On your phone. Damn.

So what do you guys think about Steve’s announcements? What surprised you? What else do you wish you’d heard? What do you think it will mean to have running OS X on your mobile phone?

Personally, I was disappointed. Not...

Personally, I was disappointed. Not in the iPhone, or the Apple TV, but in the following:

  • The product I want isn’t available until fourth quarter 2007 (EU iPhone); can’t even buy a US one until June. I want one now. I was willing to buy one tonight, but I can’t. All Apple have done is show me something cool I can’t have. CHEERS.
  • The Apple TV is cool alright, but my monitor is bigger (and better) than my TV, so why bother? I do understand that I am atypical (I imagine most people with 30” monitors have bigger TVs) but I’m happy watching stuff on my Mac. This new device doesn’t do anything for me.
  • The fact that those two product announcements are pretty much the entirety of the keynote is a right pain in the face. Absolutely nothing!

So the keynote said “Here’s two products you can’t have yet, and the good stuff isn’t out for five months”. Where is the Leopard info? iLife? iWork?
