GTD

What solutions do you use?

I have decided to implement GTD both at work and at home after listening to the Getting Things Done Now Seminar. I just borrowed the Getting Things Done Unabridged Audiobook and am going through that now.

However, I feel like my own work is conspiring against my successful implementation of GTD.

First off at work we use Lotus Notes. I thought at first I could use Notes for my organization, BUT I have 2 major issues:  read more »

The GTD Serenity Prayer

God grant me the serenity not to constantly pursue the best way to get stuff done; courage to accept the best way for me; and the wisdom to know the difference.

Getting off the ground - feeling panicked/worried

Hi all.

I’ve read through most of Getting Things Done about twice now, thought about implementing it quite a bit, and even posted here once or twice. I’ve bought a filing cabinet (something I swore I’d never do), a stack of folders and adhesive labels, and a bunch of index cards. I’ve decided to give it a go, since I’m in my last year at uni, working part-time, and usually have a few personal/freelance projects on the go at any one time as well as a social life to keep a grip on, so there’s a lot of stuff to manage there.  read more »

Is there a mobile only based GTD app without internet access?

Is there a mobile only based GTD application. I am on the road most of my time and have no internet access for better part of my day. So any web app will not work for me. I would like to use a GTD app which is purely Mobile phone/PDA based and does not require an internet connection.

Integrating Multiple Lists -- Ticket Tracking & GTD

My full-time job is split between coding and management — this means I’ve got my GTD system going — inbox zero and all that, and I’m currently using Remember The Milk — after trying KinklessGTD, iGTD, OmniFocus, and TaskPaper.  read more »

Discrete-izing amorphous blobs

There is one part where I end up not knowing what to do with GTD. And that’s when I can’t figure out a way to break down my ‘next action’ into discrete actionable tasks. At the risk of being too abstruse, these are tasks that you ‘measure like water’ — one part flows into the next too smoothly; you can’t count the individual drops.

For example:  read more »

Projects, contexts and consolidated actions

Greetings and Felicitations:

How do you handle a collection of projects that share an action that can/should be consolidated into a single action?

For example, I’ve three different projects: Hang quilt on wall, Fix ceiling fan at Mom’s, Replace refrigerator at Grandmothers. Each involves the action “phone handyman and arrange time to X”, where X is different for each project.  read more »

eeePC - Better than a PDA?

Superlative philosopher-blogger Gus Van Horn contemplates throwing away his PDA in favor of a “microlaptop”.

1Password integration with Quicksilver

MERLIN MANN - If you are out there and happen to catch this post, I beg you to read on, because you more than anyone else would probably be able to give the best input on this topic….

I use a program called 1Password (which is pretty much the freakin’ coolest application out there, other than Quicksilver).  read more »
