I am a technology director at a school district in Texas. We are purchasing 240 macbooks for our students/teachers to check out at the beginning of the school year and return at the end.

Does anyone know of good OS X software that will help me inventory, help desk, and check out/in?

So I have been stumbling around in kGTD, 43 Folders, OmniPro land and am impressed, overwhelmed, and seduced by the vision of a promised land of a totally dovetailed & coherent organizational system whose outlines I only dimly understand.

I bought my Mac, bought my OmniFocus Pro, downloaded QS (was starting to feel smug), finally installed kGTD and have been totally derailed by the following instruction from kinkless kGTD:

I installed Mac OS X 10.5 yesterday and enabled the new "Spaces" feature. I expected Spaces to be similar to the multiple desktops that have been available on the many Unix and Linux windowing managers for more than a decade.

With the install of Leopard, I finally am switching from Entourage (since 2000) to the whole Mail/Address Book/iCal/.mac combo.
