Multiplatform GTD Tool?

Hi!

I was wondering if there were a good recommendation for a multiplatform GTD application. I'd like to be able to have my system span both home and work, be mostly digital, and at the same time not be network-dependant.

My situation is thus:

My hardware at work is a Windows laptop. My home system is a MacBook. Bridging the two is an iPhone and a USB drive.

Fujitsu ScanSnap for Mac

I have just seen the Fujitsu ScanSnap and it sounds perfect. I'd like to scan and label all my paper documents then destroy the originals and be completly paperless. As I can't be the only one who has had this thought I would greatly appreciate your own experiences and opinions.

iGTD gone?

Does anyone know what happened to the iGTD site? I'm getting the evil 404 from the host. I don't know Bart (I wouldn't even hazard to pronounce his name) but I support his efforts on this.

Terminal Nerds II: Electric Boogaloo

516234_3c61dab15b_o Our post about getting started with the Terminal command line and various related discussions swirling around the site have started to produce some remarkable results.

First, our home-grown OSXCLI tag on del.icio.us has yielded a wondrous crop of links for the OSX Terminal newbies. Although the reading level does seem to be inching northward, there’s still a ton of great stuff that should help folks at many skill levels.

Also, a followup CLI discussion on the 43F Google Group has provoked some very smart people to talk about how they use their Macs. The most fascinating comes from my new favorite fake nemesis and CLI stud, John S.J. Anderson, who has posted a terrific breakdown of his setup and emacs world that you should not miss:

I’m a sysadmin and the father of a two-year old, which means my life is almost completely interrupt-driven. My system allows me to quickly capture new input as it happens, and then more fully process it later, which is key to me avoiding a complete mental meltdown. [read it all »]

There are many other highlights on the thread itself that I’ve printed out for future reference. Here are a few:

Merlin at NC Conference; Discount for 43f readers

Important update: 2006-11-15

The Working and Living Life Smarter Conference, announced below, is being rescheduled to a TBD date next year. Registrants have been notified and have received refund info, but you should feel free to ask any questions to either the conference’s organizer, Kay Ethier (sales at aboveandbeyondlearning daht com), or me. 43 Folders will update when the new dates are announced.

So sorry for the change! I apologize for any inconvenience this change has caused and hope that you can still make it to the rescheduled conference next year.

WORKING AND LIVING LIFE SMARTER 2006 (43 Folders Discount)

Macworld: Mac Gems Picks

Macworld Feature: Connect with the world

Macworld Magazine asked me to pick out a few of my Mac Gems, and I was happy to respond with four favorites.

Default Folder, for example, is a PreferencePane that I've used and loved since Christ was a corporal:

Default Folder X (****½)

You can tell Default Folder X is a classic because you start missing it the second you sit down at a Mac that doesn’t have it installed. It reduces the tedium of a handful of annoying dialog-box tasks, and it’s worth its price solely for the ability to set a per-program default location.

Cranking

Merlin used to crank. He’s not cranking any more.

This is an essay about family, priorities, and Shakey’s Pizza, and it’s probably the best thing he’s written. »
