Text 'clipboard' for Mac

Firstly, I hope I've posted this in the right area - apologies if not.

I'm looking for a Mac utility that will allow me to easily store a selection of often used chunks of text (sometimes for us in e-mails, sometimes in documents) that I can quickly find and paste when needed.

Any recommendations?

Many thanks,

Simon

the Hipster Laptop

I have outfitted a hard-cover sketchbook as my Hipster Laptop. Pictures here:

Seems to me like it's in tune w/ the spirit of the hPDA.

GTD and Daylite program for Mac?

I would like to communicate with people integrating Getting Things Done with the Daylite organizer program for Mac. If I find someone really proficient, I would be happy to hire you as a consultant. Thank you.

Creating Research Database

I recently read an interesting post at Study Hacks about building a research database. The program used was Microsoft Access and I was looking for suggestions for a Mac program which might accomplish the same tasks. I have Devon Think and will take a look at Filemaker Pro, but I was looking for some other suggestions.

Thanks for any help.

Batch OCR with Scansnap

I have one of the "older" Fujitsu Scansnaps (fi-5110EOXM) that came with Acrobat 7.0 only. I moved overseas right after getting the scanner and was unable to get Readris by mail-in. Now, I have no OCR capability except for Acrobat 7 Pro which seems to be non-useful (won't OCR, crashes). My scans don't show up in Spotlight. :(

I would love to 1) OCR my past scans as well as 2) continue to scan in rapid succession during the day and have something do OCR at night.

My questions:

-Is there any software that will do batch OCR on my scans that is affordable?

A 'Getting Things Done' Valentine

Deez Steeles: Getting Things Done as Marriage Counciling

GTD 4U This is a wonderful post, and it illustrates something I hear from people all the time—how they feel more tuned-in to their personal life once they find a way to climb out from underneath their pile of ephemeral crap, and, frankly, how they are finally able to pull their head out of their ass long enough to pay attention to the really important people in their life.

In my case, my positive outcome is that my marriage is strong, and my wife knows and feels like she is the #1 priority in my life.  So then I can identify the next physical thing I need to do in order to accomplish those goals: it might be buying flowers, or taking an evening to cook dinner and spoil her, or booking a little weekend getaway.  Now, my wife doesn’t really like the idea of being treated like a “project,” against which tasks are assigned.  But, I would say that I’m just using GTD as a tool to make sure that I am constantly reminded to take actions to make her a priority.  That can’t be bad.

That’s pretty cool. Nice Valentine’s Day message for you GTD fans (and a savvy reminder never to let your loved one know they’re a project).

Cranking

This is an essay about family, priorities, and Shakey’s Pizza, and it’s probably the best thing he’s written. »
