Actiontastic adds iCal and .Mac sync

Actiontastic 0.9 gets iCal sync support

Tim at Hawk Wings points out that Actiontastic .9 now supports Sync Services, making it easy to move your stuff to iCal, .Mac, as well as (previously added) your iPod.

I haven't spent a whole lot of time with Actiontastic, but I admire its lean approach to task work (arguably a bit too lean for some folks). Still, I always feel like the less you have to fiddle with, the more likely you may be to actually do the stuff on your list.

Also, making sync seamless and reliable is clearly something Mac users are coming to expect in most every app where it's practical. Plus, of course, it works with Quicksilver, and there's nothing wrong with that.

43F link badges

I’ve had a few requests from readers wanting an easy way to fly the colors of The Mothership on their own weblog (or, “blog”). Cool. So, here are a few little badges for that purpose. You know the drill: just copy the included code, and paste it into your page templates.

(And, thanks to everyone who asked for these!)

A Tale of Disk Crashing Woe, and the Utilities That Saved Me

Apologies if I'm a little cranky, but I've suffered two hard drive crashes in as many weeks, and while I was able to recover somewhat gracefully, the aggravation of watching plodding status bars for hours on end while I wait for my data to load has been unbearable. Fortunately, my wife has employed Bobby Knight-proof safety features in our home office and chained everything to the desk, or else I would have chucked it all out the window.

But since I'm finally back online, I wanted to give a tip of the binder clip to three little programs that saved my bacon during these past two weeks, one crowd favorite and two lowly OS X utilities:

Interesting 43F Stats

Talking blog stats is dull, tacky stuff, so I usually avoid it like the plague. But here’s a couple data points you might find interesting.

Mail.app smart mailboxes

After being turned on to Merlin's Inbox Zero presentation I've been rethinking my email workflow. I have been using Mail.app for a year or two now but am now just unlocking its power with regards to Smart Mailboxes. I've run into a couple of quick (hopefully) technical glitches which I'd love to have feedback on.

  1. In trying to construct a Smart Mailbox containing messages for which I've recently viewed I've set up the following: MESSAGES that match ALL of the following: DATE LAST VIEWED is IN THE LAST 2 Days.

Cranking

Merlin used to crank. He’s not cranking any more.

This is an essay about family, priorities, and Shakey’s Pizza, and it’s probably the best thing he’s written. »

Scared Shitless

Merlin’s scared. You’re scared. Everybody is scared.

This is the video of Merlin’s keynote at Webstock 2011. The one where he cried. You should watch it. »
