ClearContext 4 Review - New Dashboard feature good for GTD

About a year ago I discovered ClearContext, a plugin for Microsoft Outlook that helps you manage your inbox. I tried it and wrote my comments here on this forum (http://www.43folders.com/forum/2006/10/20/gtd-and-clearcontext)

I never was able to really get working on GTD, but not because of the software, mainly because of me. However, ClearContext and some of the GTD concepts have helped me in keeping my Inbox almost empty most of the time. I will not repeat myself, but the "Defer" and "Unsuscbribe" features that I described in the other post have been a great help

dropfiles vs folders / binders, orgnanizing references

Does anybody use a condensed version of the tickler file? I don't see myself using the 43 folders - most of them will be empty. I just don't get that much paperwork of that kind. There are bills to pay at the end of each week and the odd social calendar reminder.

43F Poll: What's your biggest GTD strength and weakness?

Two polls over on the 43f Board:

My own answers?

  • Strength: Collecting.
Dude. I'm a viking at collecting. Remember I'm the guy who invented writing things down on paper. So. You know.
  • Weakness: Review.
It's sick that I know know know this is the most important stage of GTD, and I still eat the booger. Need to work on this, big time.

When it comes to GTD, what's your strength and weakness?

An issue i've been having

Heres my problem. Let's say i've made a list of things i need to talk to bob about. So i have a list of tasks in my @Bob context. I go to school, and, until recently, i wouldn't have even had that list when i bumped unexpectedly into him, but now i have decided to put those in my iPod Touch, which i always have, and is, unlike a notecard, reuseable.

Now heres the issue. How do i rememember how to whip out the touch, flick over to @bob and go "I need to ask you about a horse." or whatever the task is?

quite a conundrum for me. any ideas?

Del.icio.us Tag Management?

Right now I have a heaps of tags in del.icio.us where this is only 1 item associated with the tag.

Do people actually try to minimise this? if so, do you have your own tagging standards? or do you just leave them alone and not worry about it?

Cheers

CD/DVD/Credit Card shredder

Does anyone have any recommendations for a CD/DVD/Credit Card shredder (for personal use)? I only have maybe a few backup DVDs that I no longer need per month so I'm not looking for an industrial-strength heavy duty shredder. Thanks!

Scansnap alternatives???

I've heard a lot about the Fujitsu Scansnap and how people have been utilizing it in their paperless lives. I was wondering if anyone has a less expensive alternative to the Scansnap. Perhaps similar product on the cheap(er)? Or has someone found a nice All in One type printer that works for their paperless workflow?

Cranking

Merlin used to crank. He’s not cranking any more.

This is an essay about family, priorities, and Shakey’s Pizza, and it’s probably the best thing he’s written. »

Scared Shitless

Merlin’s scared. You’re scared. Everybody is scared.

This is the video of Merlin’s keynote at Webstock 2011. The one where he cried. You should watch it. »
